Intellectual Property Agreements: SelectionIntellectual property rights are legal - often statutory - rights allowing their owners to prevent others engaging in particular courses of action in relation to the subject matter of the rights. For instance, the owner of copyright in a literary work is (subject to certain exceptions) entitled (inter alia) to prevent others from publishing the work.
IP rights include: copyright and related rights, database rights, trade marks, passing off rights, patents, petty patents, semi-conductor topography rights, plant variety rights and rights in designs. In addition, there are a number of quasi-IP rights such as trade secrets and rights in domain names.
We supply three different templates for the transfer of IP rights from one person to another person. Where you are simply transferring trade mark rights, you should use the trade mark assignment template. Where you are simply transferring copyright, you should use the copyright assignment template. Where you are transferring a range of IP rights, you should use the IP assignment template.
